KOLHAPUR: A group of 10-15 masked attackers torched the base camp of the sets of Bollywood film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's much-awaited movie, 'Padmavati', at Masai plateau in Panhala taluka, 35km from Kolhapur, at around 1am on Wednesday and beat up members of the film crew. None of the attackers has been identified.
Police said dress material, costumes, shoes, expensive drapery and wooden logs and planks used to recreate a medieval India setting were reduced to ashes. Most of the material was packed in metal suitcases. Initial estimates put the loss at Rs 4 crore.

NEW DELHI: India has expressed strong opposition to the $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, which is the key to Beijing's ambitious 'One-Belt, One-Road' initiative, even as it slammed Islamabad for not taking concrete steps to stop cross-border terrorism.
"The CPEC passing through Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir challenges Indian sovereignty," said the Union defence ministry in its annual report submitted to Parliament on Wednesday.

JAMMU: In yet another violation of the truce along Line of Control in border district Poonch of the Jammu region, the Pakistani troops on Monday targeted the forward Indian posts along the LoC for the third time in the last 24 hours, forcing the authorities to suspend the Poonch-Rawalkote bus service and postpone examinations.
Sunday's firing partially damaged the Trade Felicitation Centre (TFC), Chaka da Bagh, in Poonch and forced authorities to suspend the Jammu-Rawalkote bus service, sources from Poonch said.

Parliament approved on Thursday a bill granting women working in the organised sector paid maternity leave of 26 weeks, up from 12 weeks now, a decision which will benefit around 1.8 million women.
The law will apply to all establishments employing 10 or more people and the entitlement will be for the first two children. For the third child, the entitlement will be 12 weeks.
With this, India becomes the country with the third highest maternity leave. Canada and Norway grant 50 weeks and 44 weeks respectively as paid maternity leave.

पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री नवाज शरीफ ने मंगलवार को होली पर आयोजित एक समारोह के दौरान कहा कि जबरन धर्मांतरण और दूसरे धर्मों के पूजा स्थलों पर हमला करना इस्लाम में अपराध है। उन्होंने कहा कि पाकिस्तान किसी भी धर्म के खिलाफ नहीं है और यहां धर्म को लेकर कोई युद्ध भी नहीं है। समारोह में शरीफ ने कहा, कौन स्वर्ग जाएगा और कौन नर्क यह किसी का काम नहीं है, लेकिन पाकिस्तान को स्वर्ग बनाना मुख्य काम है। पाकिस्तान में रह रहे अल्पसंख्यकों को दिए संदेश में शरीफ ने कहा कि कोई किसी दूसरे को एक खास धर्म अपनाने के लिए बाध्य नहीं कर सकता। इस्लाम में हर शख्स को धर्म, जाति या संप्रदाय का भेदभाव किए महत्व दिया गया है और मैं यह साफ तौर पर कहता हूं कि किसी का जबरन धर्म परिवर्तन कराना इस्लाम में अपराध है और यह हमारा फर्ज है कि पाकिस्तान में रह रहे अल्पसंख्यकों के धार्मिक स्थलों की सुरक्षा करें। पाकिस्तान में हिंदू मंदिरों पर हमले और हिंदू महिलाओं के जबरन धर्मांतरण की कई घटनाएं होती रही हैं। ऐसे में पाकिस्तानी प्रधानमंत्री का यह बयान काफी अहम है।

देश में हिंदुओं की जनसंख्या पिछले चार दशकों में पूर्ण रूप से बढ़ी है, लेकिन इस अवधि के दौरान कुल आबादी में उसका हिस्सा घट गया है। गृह राज्य मंत्री हंसराज अहीर ने लोकसभा में जानकारी देते हुए कहा कि हिंदुओं की आबादी 1971 में 45.33 करोड़ थी, जो 2011 में बढ़कर 96.22 करोड़ हो गई। एक लिखित जवाब में उन्होंने कहा, लेकिन कुल आबादी में हिंदू जनसंख्या में उनका हिस्सा घट गया है। अहीर ने कहा कि 1971 में हिंदुओं की कुल जनसंख्या 82.7 प्रतिशत थी जो 2011 में 79.8 प्रतिशत रह गई। सरकार ने अपने जवाब में पिछली पांच जनगणनाओं से मिले डाटा का हवाला भी दिया है।

दिल्ली की जवाहर लाल नेहरू यूनिवर्सिटी के एमफिल के छात्र रजनी मुथुकृष्णन ने सोमवार (13 मार्च) को दिल्ली में फांसी लगाकर खुदकुशी कर ली। छात्रों के मुताबिक रजनी अनुसूचित जाति से ताल्लुक रखता था और वह जस्टिस फॉर रोहत वेमुला मूवमेंट का सक्रिय सदस्य था। तमिलनाडु का रहने वाले रजनी जेएनयू में एमफिल कर रहा था। अंग्रेजी अखबार टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया ने अपनी रिपोर्ट में लिखा कि इस हादसे पर दुख जाहिर करते हुए सामाजिक न्याय पर बनी ज्वॉइंट एक्शन कमेटी के सदस्य ने बताया, ‘हम हादसे की वजह से दुखी हैं। वह एक मेधावी छात्र और अच्छा लेखक था।’ रजनी ने पिछले साल अपने ब्लॉग पर वेमुला की मां राधिका पर एक लेख लिखा था।

मणिपुर में एन बीरेन सिंह को सोमवार को सर्वसम्मति से भाजपा विधायक दल का नेता चुना गया और उन्होंने राज्यपाल नजमा हेपतुल्ला से मुलाकात कर राज्य में अगली सरकार बनाने का दावा पेश किया। निवर्तमान मुख्यमंत्री ओ इबोबी सिंह रविवार रात सरकार बनाने का दावा पेश किया था। सूत्रों ने कहा कि बीरेन ने राजभवन जाकर राज्यपाल से मुलाकात की। केंद्रीय मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने संवाददाताओं से कहा, ‘एन बीरेन को सर्वसम्मति से भाजपा विधायक दल का नेता निर्र्वाचित किया गया। वह पार्टी की ओर से मुख्यमंत्री पद के उम्मीदवार हैं। हमारे पास छोटे दलों का समर्थन है।’

कांग्रेस सांसद शशि थरूर को 2019 के लोकसभा चुनावों के लिए संयुक्त प्रगतिशील गठबंधन(यूपीए) की ओर से प्रधानमंत्री पद का उम्मीदवार बनाए जाने के लिए ऑनलाइन पिटिशन शुरू की गई है। केरल की राजधानी तिरुवनंतपुरम के एक व्यक्ति ने इंटरनेट पर यह पिटिशन शुरू की है। इसमें लिखा है, ”थरूर को राष्ट्रीय और अंतरराष्ट्रीय मामलों की गहरी जानकारी है और वह काफी क्वालिफाइड हैं। वह भारत और विदेश के नेताओं से भी जुड़ सकते हैं।” इस पिटिशन को अभी तक 6725 लोग समर्थन कर चुके हैं। थरूर के लिए आगे लिखा है, ”2019 के लिए हम यूपीए की ओर से डॉक्टर शशि थरूर को प्रधानमंत्री पद के लिए उम्मीदवार के तौर पर नामांकित करते हैं। यह दुनिया के सबसे बड़े लोकतंत्र के हित में है और विपक्ष को फिर से खड़ा करने के लिए है।”

उत्तर प्रदेश विधानसभा चुनाव को जीतने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने चुनाव प्रचार और रैलियों की जिम्मेदारी अपने हाथ में ले ली थी। शुरुआत में लोगों का उत्साह कम देखकर उनका अपना अभियान दोबारा से बनवाया था। समाचार एजेंसी रॉयटर्स के अनुसार, दो केंद्रीय मंत्रियों और कैंपेन मैनेजर्स को पीएम मोदी ने कहा था, ”हमारा चुनाव प्रचार ठहर गया है।” उन्होंने यह बात छठे चरण के मतदान से ठीक पहले कहा था। रॉयटर्स ने उस बैठक में मौजूद रहे पीएम मोदी के करीबी के हवाले से लिखा है, ”मैं नहीं चाहता कि ऐसा हो कि बाद में मैं कहूं कि खुद को और ज्यादा झोंक सकता था।” मोदी ने अपने संसदीय क्षेत्र वाराणसी में लगातार तीन दिन तक प्रचार किया। वहां पर उन्होंने तीन रोड शो और तीन रैलियां की। इस प्रचार के दौरान उन्हें चेताया भी गया कि इस तरह से प्रचार उनके कद को शोभा नहीं देता। लेकिन पीएम अपनी बात पर अड़े रहे।

छत्तीसगढ़ के नक्सल प्रभावित सुकमा जिले में नक्सली हमले में केंद्रीय रिजर्व पुलिस बल के 12 जवान शहीद हो गए जबकि तीन अन्य जवान घायल हो गए हैं। राज्य के वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारियों ने बताया कि सुकमा जिले के भेज्जी थाना क्षेत्र के घने जंगलों में नक्सलियों ने सीआरपीएफ के गश्ती दल पर घात लगाकर हमला कर दिया। हमले में सीआरपीएफ की 219वीं बटालियन के 12 जवान शहीद हो गए, जबकि तीन अन्य जवान घायल हो गए। अधिकारियों ने बताया कि गश्ती दल को भेज्जी क्षेत्र में बन रहे इंजरम भेज्जी मार्ग की सुरक्षा के लिए रवाना किया गया था। दल में लगभग एक सौ जवान शामिल थे। दल जब भेज्जी और कोत्ताचेरू गांव के मध्य जंगल में था तब नक्सलियों ने पुलिस दल पर गोलीबारी शुरू कर दी। हमले में सीआरपीएफ के 11 जवानों की मौके पर ही मौत हो गयी, जबकि चार अन्य घायल हो गए।

मणिपुर में त्रिशंकु विधानसभा के हालात बन गए हैं। 60 सदस्यीय विधानसभा में कांग्रेस 28 सीटों के साथ सबसे बड़ी पार्टी बनकर उभरी है। वहीं भाजपा को 21 सीटों पर जीत मिली है। उसे इन चुनावों में बड़ा फायदा हुआ है। वह मुख्य विपक्षी दल के रूप में उभरी है। असम और अरुणाचल प्रदेश के बाद मणिपुर तीसरा राज्य है जहां पर भाजपा ने हाल के समय में कामयाबी हासिल की है। हालांकि सत्ता उसकी पहुंच से दूर है। मणिपुर में कांग्रेस 15 साल से सत्ता में है। ओकराम इबोबी सिंह यहां पर लगातार सत्ता में है। वहीं सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता इरोम शर्मिला अपना चुनाव हार गर्इ हैं। उन्हें केवल 90 वोट मिले। वह मुख्यमंत्री इबोबी सिंह के सामने खड़ी हुई थी।

उत्तर प्रदेश की राजधानी लखनऊ में हाल ही में संदिग्ध आतंकवादी सैफुल्लाह के एटीएस से हुई मुठभेड़ में मारे जाने पर उलेमा काउंसिल ने सवाल खड़े किए हैं। सैफुल्लाह की मौत पर उसके पिता सरताज और भाई दानिश तो सवाल नहीं उठा रहे हैं, लेकिन उलेमा काउंसिल ने मुठभेड़ को फर्जी करार दिया। उलेमा काउंसिल के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष मौलाना आमिर रशादी मदनी कानपुर पहुंचे। उन्होंने कहा, “सैफुल्लाह का एनकांउटर फर्जी है। आतंकी सैफुल्लाह नहीं, आतंकी सरकार है। पुलिस वालों ने सैफुल्लाह को घर के अंदर बंधक बना रखा था।”

देश के बड़े दूध सप्लायर्स में से एक मदर डेयरी ने शुक्रवार को दूध के दाम बढ़ा दिए। कंपनी ने दिल्ली-एनसीआर क्षेत्र में दूध के दाम में 2 रुपए प्रति लीटर की बढ़ोत्तरी की है, जो कि शनिवार मध्य रात्रि से लागू होगी। टोन्ड दूध की कीमत 41 रुपए प्रति लीटर होगी, जबकि एक लीटर फुल क्रीम दूध के लिए लोगों को 51 रुपए चुकाने होंगे। मदर डेयरी दिल्ली-एनसीआर में रोज 30 लाख लीटर दूध बेचती है। कंपनी ने आठ महीनों के बाद दूध के दाम बढ़ाए हैं।

शैक्षिक संस्थाओं में नैतिक शिक्षा की पाठ्यपुस्तक के रूप में भगवद् गीता की अनिवार्य रूप से शिक्षा प्रदान किये जाने के प्रावधान वाले एक निजी विधेयक समेत शुक्रवार (10 मार्च) को लोकसभा में 103 गैर-सरकारी विधेयक पेश किये गये। सदन में शुक्रवार को गैर-सरकारी कामकाज के लिए समय निर्धारित होता है और आज (शुक्रवार, 10 मार्च) इस दौरान 103 गैर-सरकारी विधेयक पेश किये गये। इनमें भाजपा सदस्य रमेश बिधूड़ी ने ‘शैक्षिक संस्थाओं में नैतिक शिक्षा पाठ्यक्रम के रूप में भगवद् गीता का अनिवार्य शिक्षण विधेयक, 2016’ पुर:स्थापित किया जिसमें प्रस्ताव है कि भगवद्गीता को पाठ्यक्रम में अनिवार्य शिक्षण के लिए शामिल किया जाए।

शराब व्यवसायी विजय माल्या ने सरकार पर शुक्रवार (10 मार्च) को आरोप लगाया कि वह ‘निष्पक्ष’ सुनवाई के बिना ही उन्हें दोषी करार दे रही है। उन्होंने यह बात ऐसे समय कही है जबकि बैंकों का कर्ज न चुकाने के उनके मामले में उच्चतम न्यायालय कोड़ा फटकार रहा है। उच्चतम न्यायालय ने माल्या से उनकी संपत्तियों और 4 करोड़ डॉलर की एक धन राशि अपने बच्चे को हस्तांतरित करने के बारे में सवाल पूछे थे। माल्या ने ट्विटर के जरिये अपनी बात कही है।

सभी पांच राज्यों की वोटिंग खत्म होने के बाद एग्जिट पोल के नतीजे आ गए हैं। सभी एग्जिट पोल में उत्तर प्रदेश में भाजपा सबसे बड़ी पार्टी बनकर उभर रही है। एग्जिट पोल के नतीजों से भाजपा की विपक्षी पार्टियों में खलबली मचने लगी है और मतदान नतीजे आने से पहले ही आरोप-प्रत्यारोप का काम भी शुरू हो गया है। यूपी में सत्ताधारी समाजवादी पार्टी के एक मंत्री ने कांग्रेस के साथ गठबंधन को समाजवादी पार्टी के खराब प्रदर्शन की वजह बताया। अखिलेश यादव सरकार में परिवार कल्याण मंत्री रविदास महरोत्रा ने लखनऊ सेंट्रल से चुनाव लड़ा, जहां कांग्रेस ने भी अपने उम्मीदवार मरूफ खान को खड़ा किया हुआ था। हालांकि कांग्रेस ने दावा किया कि उन्होंने मरुफ को पर्चा वापस लेने के लिए कहा था।

संसद ने प्रसूति प्रसुविधा संशोधन विधेयक 2016 को मंजूरी दे दी जिसमें खान, फैक्टरी, बागानों, दुकानों आदि तथा संगठित क्षेत्र में काम करने वाली महिलाओं को मातृत्व सुविधा प्रदान करने की पहल की गई है। लोकसभा में आज प्रसूति प्रसुविधा संशोधन विधेयक 2016 पर विचार करने के बाद इसे ध्वनिमत से पारित कर दिया। राज्यसभा में इसे पहले ही पारित किया जा चुका है। सदन में श्रम एवं रोजगार मंत्री बंडारू दत्तात्रेय ने विचार के लिए रखते हुए कहा कि गर्भवती एवं शिशु के जन्म के कल्याण का विषय अत्यंत गंभीर मामला है। श्रम हालांकि समवर्ती सूची में आता है लेकिन नरेंद्र मोदी के नेतृत्व वाली राजग सरकार गर्भवती महिलाओं, माताओं एवं बच्चों की देखरेख, पोषण आदि के बारे में प्रतिबद्ध है।

यूपी एटीएस का दावा है कि भोपाल-उज्जैन पैसेंजर ट्रेन ब्लास्ट मामले में जिस शख्स को गिरफ्तार किया है वह पूर्व वायु सेना अधिकारी है। इस गिरफ्तारी के बाद इस मामले में पुलिस ने कुल 8 लोगों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया है। टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया की खबर के मुताबिक पुलिस ने बताया कि गौस मोहम्मद खान ने भारतीय वायु सेना में 15 साल सर्विस की, वह एक कट्टर आतंकी मॉड्यूल का हिस्सा था, जो कथित तौर पर इस बम धमाकेके लिए जिम्मेदार है। वहीं यूपी में इस मॉड्यूल से जुड़े 5 लोगों को भी गिरफ्तार किया गया है। यूपी पुलिस का दावा है कि 9 मार्च को उसने इस मॉड्यूल से जुड़े सभी लोगों को हिरासत में ले लिया है। मामले को लेकर यूपी पुलिस के डीजी दलजीत सिंह चौधरी ने खान को इस मामले में “टेक्निकल हैंड” बताया।

साउथ कोरिया की संसदीय कोर्ट ने वहां की राष्ट्रपति पार्क गेन हुई को उनके पद से हटा दिया है। वहां के इतिहास में पहली बार ऐसा हुआ है। पार्क की शक्तियां दिसंबर में ही सस्पेंड कर दी गई थी। तब उनके खिलाफ विधायी महाभियोग वोट की वजह से ऐसा किया गया था। पार्क गेन हुईं वहां की पहली महिला राष्ट्रपति हैं। वह शीत युद्ध के वक्त के तानाशाह पार्क चुंग-ली की बेटी हैं। पार्क पहले भी चर्चा में रह चुकी हैं। नोर्थ कोरिया की न्यूक्लियर शक्ति को हद में करने के लिए उन्होंने अमेरिका का साथ दिया था।

उत्तर प्रदेश विधान सभा चुनाव के लिए सातवें और आखिरी चरण का मतदान बुधवार (आठ मार्च) को समाप्त हुआ। जिन पांच राज्यों में विधान सभा चुनाव हुए हैं उनमें सबसे ज्यादा निगाहें यूपी के नतीजों पर ही हैं। राज्य में समाजवादी पार्टी सत्ता में है। जो चुनाव से पहले ही अंदरूनी कलह की वजह से सुर्खियों में रही। साल 2012 में सपा को अकेले दम पर पूर्ण बहुमत प्राप्त हुआ था। 2012 के विधान सभा चुनाव में सपा को 224, बसपा को 80 और भाजपा को 47 सीटों पर जीत मिली थी। मुलायम सिंह यादव के नेतृत्व में सपा ने बहुजन समाज पार्टी की मायावती की सरकार को सत्ता से बाहर कर दिया। वहीं भारतीय जनता पार्टी करीब डेढ़ दशकों से राज्य की सत्ता से बाहर है।

पंजाब में शिरोमणी अकाली दल और भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) गठबंधन सरकार को कांग्रेस और आम आदमी पार्टी कड़ी टक्कर देते बताए जा रहे हैं। पिछले विधान सभा चनाव में पंजाब की कुल 117 विधान सभा सीटों में से अकाली दल को 56 और उसकी सहयोगी भाजपा को 12 सीटों पर जीत मिली थी। 68 सीटें जीतकर अकाली-भाजपा गठबंधन ने राज्य में लगातार दूसरी बार सरकार बनायी। वहीं सत्ताधारी कांग्रेस को 2012 में 46 सीटों पर ही जीत मिल सकी और वो सत्ता में वापसी नहीं कर सकी। पंजाब विधान सभा 2012 के चुनाव में तीन निर्दलीय उम्मीदवारों को भी जीत मिली थी।

2007 में हुए अजमेर ब्लास्ट केस में NIA कोर्ट ने स्वामी असीमानंद को बरी कर दिया गया है। जबकि तीन आरोपियों को दोषी करार दिया गया है। लेकिन अभी सजा का ऐलान नहीं हुआ है। इस मामले में कुल 9 लोगों को अभियुक्त बनाया गया था। जिन लोगों को दोषी पाया गया है उसमें सुनील जोशी, भावेश और देवेंद्र गुप्ता का नाम शामिल है। सुनील जोशी की पहले ही मौत हो चुकी है। वहीं जिन लोगों को बरी किया गया है उसमें स्वामी असीमानंद के अलावा चंद्रशेखर का नाम शामिल है।

अमेरिकी प्रांत कंसास के गवर्नर सैन ब्राउनबैक ने प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी को पत्र लिखकर पिछले महीने भारतीय नागरिकों के खिलाफ हुई हिंसा को लेकर ‘गहरा अफसोस’ जताया है और कहा कि उनके राज्य में नफरत और असहिष्णुता के लिए कोई स्थान नहीं है। पिछले महीने अमेरिकी नौसेना के पूर्व जवान एडम प्यूरिंटन ने गोलीबारी की थी जिसमें 32 साल के भारतीय सॉफ्टवेयर इंजीनियर श्रीनिवास कुचिबोतला की मौत हो गई थी और आलोक मदसानी नामक भारतीय घायल हो गया था।
